​Probably composed in 1630, Beatus Vir, a dramatic setting of Psalm 112 by Claudio Monteverdi, is a delight to sing. Monteverdi uses to great effect the Baroque stile concertato of contrasting solo and duet voices and instruments with the full forces of the choir and ensemble. This piece serves as an excellent demonstration of sacred music’s unshackling from the divine order of Renaissance polyphony into colourful Baroque counterpoint. We will also enjoy a motet from the Libro Primo Motetti of 1620: Adoramus te, Christe. We hope that our workshops and interactive rehearsal module will enable you to immerse yourself in the wonderful colour of this work.

Scott Inglis-Kidger and Miranda Ostler host five workshops  in beautiful high definition here on our website. Scott will warm up your voice before coaching you through this wonderful music. Our tracks are created in-house with professional vocals from Scott and Miranda.
