Platinum's Cryptic Classical Quiz

The clues involve typical cryptic crossword wordplay. Punctuation may be deliberately misleading. The numbers in brackets indicate how many letters are in each answer. For example:
1)  A round of applause with the Spanish composer (6)          Answer: Handel
2)  Large instrument botched operation by introducing fluorine (10)        Answer:  pianoforte
3)  Oddly heavy, I don't get Austrian (5)        Answer: Haydn

Answer as many clues as you can and submit your entry by midday (BST) on Wednesday 20th May 2020.

1st Prize: 2021 Flagship Workshops Season Pass (worth £300)

Terms and Conditions

1. The deadline for entry is midday (BST) on Wednesday 20th May 2020.
2. The three entries with the most correct answers will be announced as the prize winners after 7pm on the 22nd May. In the event of a tie there will be a draw to pick the overall winner and runners up. In all cases the quizmaster's decision is final.
3.  A list of winners and correct answers will be emailed to everyone who submits an entry on 23 May 2020.  The winners will be contacted directly to arrange delivery of their prize.
4.  There will be no cash alternative to the prize offered, but Platinum Consort will be happy to arrange an alternative voucher of equal value should the winner be unable to use the prize as stated.
5. If any winner is unable to take up a prize for any reason, or if Platinum has not been able, after making reasonable efforts, to make contact with the winner, we reserve the right to award that prize (without notice to the first winner chosen) to an alternative winner.
